Hersonissos, Crete Greece

Hersonissos is a very popular holiday destination among Germans, Dutch, Serbs, and Irish, so when you stay here you’ll encounter many different languages and customs. The harbor area is especially popular with Germans and Irish, which is why you’ll find traditional Irish pubs there. On the east side of the town, you’ll find hotels, shops, and bars. The beaches are beautiful, and from the town you can take several excursions to interesting sites around Crete. There is a small aquarium, Aquaworld, which is ideal to visit with children, and the Lychnostatis Open Air Museum, where a traditional Cretan village has been recreated. There are plenty of activities for both children and adults. For adults, the main attractions are in the evenings, thanks to the incredible variety and energy of the bars, restaurants, and nightclubs. History lovers can also explore nearby Roman, Greek, and Byzantine ruins.
