Lido Italy

The Lido is an 11-kilometer-long sandbar in Venice, northern Italy, and has about 20,000 residents. The Venice Film Festival takes place on the Lido every September. The island has three main settlements: • The Lido (in the north), which hosts the Film Festival, the Grand Hotel des Bains, the Venice Casino, and the Hotel Excelsior Venice Lido. • Malamocco (in the center), the earliest settlement and once the residence of the Doge of Venice. • Alberoni (at the southern end), home to the island’s golf course. Frequent public buses run the length of the island along the main street.
