Stepantsminda Georgia

Stepantsminda is a small town in the Mtskheta-Mtianeti region of northeastern Georgia. Historically and culturally, it belongs to the Khevi province and serves as the administrative center of Kazbegi Municipality. Stepantsminda is famous for its dramatic setting in the Greater Caucasus Mountains and is a major base for hikers and mountain climbers. Local attractions include the Kazbegi Museum and Ethnographic Museum in town, the Gergeti Trinity Church just outside the town, as well as Mount Kazbegi and the alpine meadows and forests of the surrounding Kazbegi Nature Reserve.
